  • David Dodge, principal at Garden Homes Lutheran School, was looking for a master’s degree that could be completed online. He enrolled in Wisconsin Lutheran College’s online program upon positive recommendations from colleagues. David selected the program’s track in Leadership and Innovation, seeking additional training in the professional skills that would best enhance his ability to serve as school principal.

David graduated from Martin Luther College in 2005 with his Bachelor of Science in Education degree. He began teaching at at Garden Homes in 2008, and in 2014 he accepted the call to become principal. He stated, “Many key responsibilities that I now have to manage were not in my formal training to become a licensed teacher. The instruction, collaboration, and support from my professors at WLC have supplied me with the knowledge and understanding to perform my new duties competently.”

Entrepreneurship in Education was an inspiring class. I learned about stories and examples of men and women actively creating educational opportunities in some of the most disadvantaged regions of the world. The class provided sound instruction and practice on how to develop vision and cultivate an entrepreneurial idea into reality.

David appreciates the project based activities integrated in the college’s curriculum, often employing the experiential learning into his responsibilities as a K-8 principal, explaining, "You'll find many of the concepts able to be immediately applied in your classroom, school, or district."
