Why is my alumni gift so important?

The percentage of alumni supporting Wisconsin Lutheran College financially at any level is crucial for evaluating the college. It is one factor that is used in determining the college's ranking in surveys. Thanks in part to alumni support, Wisconsin Lutheran College continues to be ranked among the best colleges by the U.S. News & World Report.

Additionally, foundations consider the alumni giving percentage when reviewing grant applications and making award decisions. Higher giving percentages can yield more favorable responses from philanthropic organizations. Since Wisconsin Lutheran College grant proposals can involve millions of dollars, your gift is worth millions!

The Warriors in Network (WiN) Directory is a tool produced by the Wisconsin Lutheran College Alumni Relations and Career and Professional Development Offices to assist in connecting the entire WLC family. The WiN Directory helps facilitate relationships among students, alumni, faculty, and staff of the college. Students can seek out alumni for advice, mentoring opportunities, and information about life after WLC. Alumni have a chance to give back by advising current students and serving as mentors, and can connect with other alumni to network around shared interests and career opportunities. Faculty and staff can utilize the WiN directory to help a student find a mentor, explore what former students are up to, or look for alumni class or event presenters.

    Benefits of Connecting Through WiN

    • Share your professional experiences and insights with fellow alumni and current WLC students
    • Expand your own professional network
    • Build up your resume
    • Stay connected with fellow Warriors
    • Grow in your interpersonal and leadership skills
    • Discover fresh perspectives from others
    • Shape and influence future generations of Warriors
    • Contribute to the success of WLC alumni

    • Commit to confidentiality and honesty
    • Respond to communications in a timely manner
    • It's natural to want to give advice, but also take time to listen to others' perspective
    • Introduce alumni and students to people they should meet in your professional network
    • Keep connected and develop a pattern of regular engagement

If you're willing to help, you'll be mailed a packet with 10-20 pre-addressed stamped envelopes and note cards, along with some sample text. Simply follow the text or make it your own, and drop the cards in the mail.
